Paramount Pictures has upped 19-year veteran Clark Woods to senior vice president and assistant general sales manager for the domestic distribution division of the motion picture group.
At the same time, Robert A. Weiss has been promoted to fill Woods’ former post as VP, Western division.
Woods is now involved in all aspects of sales for North America, reporting directly to exec VP and general sales manager Gino Campagnola. He has relocated from Sherman Oaks to Paramount’s Melrose Avenue lot.
“Clark has been a vital part of our distribution team for nearly 20 years,” Campagnola said. “His experience at the branch, divisional and national levels is an invaluable asset to Paramount.”
Woods had served as vice president, Western division, since 1989. From 1986 to 1989 he was VP, Midwestern division, based in Chicago. Before that he was the Jacksonville, Fla., branch manager for four years.
Woods began his career with Paramount in 1978 as a clerk in the Washington, D.C., branch.
Weiss is now responsible for supervising all sales and licensing activities for Paramount’s features in the Western region. He reports to Woods.
Weiss was promoted from branch manager for Chicago and San Francisco, a position he had held since 1992.
He joined Par in 1981 as the branch manager for Indianapolis and Milwaukee, and served in Chicago as VP, Midwestern division, from 1989 until Par closed the office in 1992.
Before joining Par, Weiss held posts at American Cinema Releasing, Columbia Pictures and United Artists, where he began his career in 1977.
