Reed Manville has been tapped senior vice president, international channels, at Paramount Television Group and will oversee the studio’s expanding foreign pay TV channel investments. These include HBO Asia, CineCanal and Telecine in Latin America, Showtime, Encore and TV1 in Australia and the Movie Channel, which is beamed into the Middle East.
Additionally, Manville will share responsibility for the daily operations of the London-based Paramount Channel, which began broadcasting in the U.K. in 1996 via satellite and cable.
The Paramount Channel is built around the studio’s extensive TV library and will serve as a template for future international channel rollouts.
Manville joins Paramount from Falcon Intl. Communications, where as VP of international business development he was responsible for a variety of joint ventures in Spain, Portugal and the Philippines.
Before joining Falcon, Manville was president and general manager of KNBC, part of his 15-year career with the Peacock web.
Manville will report to Jack Waterman, president of worldwide pay TV.
In a statement, Waterman said: “Reed brings to Paramount valued experience in both global business development and complex channel operations. … He immediately strengthens our senior management team in this exploding marketplace.”
