Toper Taylor has been upped to prexy of Nelvana Communications, Inc., the Los Angeles-based programming and merchandise licensing division of the Toronto-based Nelvana Enterprises Inc.
In the new post, Taylor — who previously had served as senior VP in charge of U.S. operations for Nelvana — will be responsible for creative development and sales in the TV, feature film, merchandising, interactive and direct-to-video areas in the U.S.
As part of his promotion, Taylor also has been added to the management committee of parent company Nelvana Ltd. He is one of the company’s five principal owners.
In a statement on the Taylor promotion, Nelvana co-CEO Michael Hirsh said, “Toper has succeeded in building Nelvana’s programming and merchandise licensing operations throughout the all-important U.S. marketplace.”
Nelvana Communications this season has three animated series on the Fox Kids Network: “Stickin’ Around,” “Sam & Max” and “Ned’s Newt.”
