Mark Crowley has been promoted to senior vice president of labor relations for Metro Goldwyn Mayer Inc., overseeing labor negotiations, administration and policy for the studio.

Crowley assumes the position formerly held by Benjamin B. Kahane, who retired after 46 years with MGM.

Crowley had been VP of labor relations for MGM since 1994. He will report to William A. Jones, executive veep of corporate affairs.

In a statement, Jones said that Crowley “is an accomplished counselor and skilled negotiator whose extensive familiarity with MGM and its labor issues have enabled him to effectively manage our interests.”

Before joining MGM, Crowley practiced law, concentrating on employment and labor issues. From 1986-92, he was VP of industrial relations for Turner Entertainment Co. He began his career at MGM in 1985, working for the company as director of legal affairs, industrial relations.
