Lamya Souryal has been named executive director of field operations and Christine Benarroch has been promoted to executive director of special events for MGM Distribution Co. as a part of a restructuring of its publicity operations.
Also, Christine Batista has been upped from coordinator to East Coast field manager. She will serve as the liaison to select agencies, promotional partners and Northeastern regional press through the company’s New York office. She reports to Souryal.
Souryal joins MGM from Universal Pictures marketing where she served for eight years. She will be responsible for developing and implementing field publicity and promotions campaigns for North America. She will supervise the planning and execution of press junkets and report to executive VP of worldwide promotions and corporate sponsorships Karen Sortito.
Benarroch previously served two years as director of special events for the division. She will be responsible for the planning and execution of special projects, including premieres, benefits, and national press events. She will continue to oversee all publicity and press screenings as well as supervise the MGM Academy office and other awards activities. She will report MGM senior VP of worldwide publicity Amanda Marashinsky.
