Shawn Hopkins has signed on as vice president of production at Andrew Lazar’s Mad Chance Prods., where she’ll be responsible for shepherding projects already in the film company’s pipeline as well as developing and locating new material.
Hopkins comes to the Warner Bros.-based Mad Chance from Polygram Filmed Entertainment, where she had held the post of manager of acquisitions and development. At Polygram, Hopkins helped develop such films as “Killing Floor” and “Supercar.”
Before her Polygram stint, Hopkins held positions at Universal Pictures and ICM.
Mad Chance also announced the promotion of Doug Davison to the position of creative executive.
Lazar’s shingle produced the recent films “Bound” and “Assassins,” and has projects set up at several studios, among them Rand Ravich’s “The Astronaut’s Wife” for New Line, which will star Johnny Depp and Charlize Theron. Current WB-related productions include “Cleopatra Jones,” “Confessions of a Dangerous Mind” and “Guido’s All American.”
“There are so many things moving forward that we really needed Shawn to come in and give a hand and move things along as they go into pre-production,” Lazar said.
