Lucasfilm taps Ward marketing director

Gearing up for the new “Star Wars” series, Lucasfilm has appointed former Wieden & Kennedy ad agency director Jim Ward as director of marketing.

Ward will head the newly formed marketing department for the San Rafael-based company, overseeing all aspects of worldwide marketing for Lucasfilm pic and TV productions.

At Wieden & Kennedy, Ward was global account director for Nike and Microsoft. At his prior post as senior veepee and general manager at BBDO in L.A., he handled Apple, Pioneer, Sizzler and Pizza Hut.

At the same time, Lucasfilm president Gordon Radley announced that Lynn Hale has been upped to director of communications, overseeing all public relations and publicity activities of Lucasfilm, George Lucas and all TV and feature film productions.

Hale has worked on many film campaigns for Lucasfilm since 1986, as well handling Lucas’ personal publicity and most recently guided the campaign for “Star Wars Trilogy Special Edition.”
