Jilted UTA seeks ‘Ellen’ cut

Inside Moves

Even though Ellen DeGeneres is gone from United Talent Agency, she has not been forgotten. DeGeneres’ former reps are claiming the comedian/actress owes them commission from all of last season’s “Ellen” episodes, and the dispute is getting ugly. DeGeneres left UTA for Creative Artists Agency in 1996. UTA also says it is owed for future episodes, as they are produced for the coming season. Total commission UTA is seeking is said to be in the mid-six to high-six figures. DeGeneres was repped at UTA for three years. The agency hasn’t filed suit and an arbitration hearing is set for sometime next month. A UTA spokesman and UTA’s attorneys said, “We do not comment on pending litigation.” The attorney for DeGeneres did not return calls seeking comment.
