Eaton to VP at October

NEW YORK — October Films has hired Sarah Eaton as vice president of publicity and promotions, filling the vacancy created earlier this month when Nancy Bannister ankled to join Paramount Pictures.

Eaton, who will be based at October’s New York headquarters, will be responsible for all publicity and promo-tional campaigns for the specialized film distributor’s releases and corporate activities. She will report to Bingham Ray, who serves as co-president of October along with John Schmidt.

Previously, Eaton was executive director of publicity and promotions at the Sundance Channel, a cable venture of Robert Redford’s Sundance Group, Viacom’s Showtime Networks and Polygram Filmed Entertainment.

Before Sundance, Eaton spent six years with Fine Line Features, where she worked on the publicity campaigns for more than 50 releases, including “Crash,” “Hoop Dreams” and “The Player.” Eaton began her career as the film press representative for the Museum of Modern Art.

Former Miramax senior vice president Scott Greenstein is expected to shortly join Ray and Schmidt on the management team of October.
