Disney Interactive has sifted through the sizable Disney domain and elevated two executives, Jan Smith and Steve Finney, as senior veepee, worldwide operations, and VP-CFO, respectively.

Smith becomes the de facto head of Disney Interactive — one of the very few female executives to head an interactive company or division.

The recently slimmed-down interactive company, which falls into the management portfolio of Anne Osberg, president of Disney Consumer Products worldwide, thus has two new faces in the top tier of its executive ranks.

In her new post, Smith is responsible for the division’s domestic and international businesses, including product development, marketing, finance and administration, business and legal affairs and customer support.

Publishing background

She comes to Disney Interactive from Disney Publishing for Children, where she held VP/group publisher stripes and worked closely with Osberg, to whom she will continue to report. She replaces Steve McBeth, who resigned as president two weeks ago.

Finney will have special responsibility for finance, operations, strategic planning and accounting, and will work closely with Smith and Steve Fields, VP/Disney Software, to guide the division. He comes to his new stripes from Walt Disney Records, where he was a vice president.
