Merv Griffin has tapped Lawrence Cohen to head the Griffin Group, the investment and management company owned by the successful gameshow creator, hotelier and ex-talkshow host.
Cohen, who will serve as president-CEO, had been the org’s exec VP and chief financial officer since 1988.
Three other executives have been appointed to new positions in the group. Keven Deverich will take over as executive VP of the Griffin Group as well as president of the Merv Griffin Hotels unit. Michael Eyre also was named exec veep, and Paul Knollmeyer was promoted to veepee and CFO.
Before joining Griffin, Cohen was a financial exec at Coca-Cola Entertainment and its successor, Columbia Pictures Entertainment Inc.
Griffin said the exec changes will enable his organization to expand and enter new businesses. The Griffin Group runs six hotels, as well as Merv Griffin Prods. — a diversified entertainment company — and has investments in the gaming industry.
