Leon Brachman has been officially tapped as chief operating officer of Morgan Creek Prods., it was announced Thursday by James Robinson, chairman and CEO.
The move had been expected (Daily Variety, 7/18) for Brachman, a former studio exec who since 1966 has served stints at Columbia Pictures, United Artists and 20th Century Fox, following the departure of Gary Barber, the former vice chairman and COO.
Now charged with the day-to-day operations of the Warner Bros.-based company, Brachman previously served as a consultant for Morgan Creek, as well as other film companies, and is a longtime friend of Robinson’s.
“All of his peers know who he is and how much he’s contributed to this industry,” said Robinson. “In an industry where so many overnight sensations have not lasted for more than a short period of time, Leon is a rock.”
