Call it Lollapalooza lite.
In an effort to spark sales and whet consumers’ appetites, the promoters of the upcoming Lollapalooza tour have formed Club Lollapalooza, a scaled-down version of the lifestyle and music event that will hit fairgrounds and open fields this summer. The club version hits venues next week.
The club tour will land in a handful of cities and feature three of the big tour’s headliners: Porno for Pyros, Jeremy Toback and Old 97’s. Skeleton Key will appear in place of Old 97’s at the club tour’s first outing at the Supper Club in New York on June 3.
Tickets will be given away by radio stations in the local markets, beginning Sunday in New York before shifting to Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., where the tour stops at local hot spot the Chili Pepper on June 4. Radio stations the Buzz in West Palm Beach and Zeta 94 in Miami will offer ducats to listeners.
The tour stops at the Metro in Chicago on June 5 with radio station Q101 handling the tickets.
An L.A. date and location are still being planned.
