Fifty-five years after the release of the classic pic, the soundtrack to “Casablanca” will finally see the light of day Oct. 14. Turner Classic Movies Music and Rhino Movie Music will release the soundtrack, featuring a score by Max Steiner and songs by Dooley Wilson, for the first time.
Warner Bros. employees discovered missing optical nitrate recordings earlier this year that afforded an opportunity to produce the album. In addition to the 20 music tracks, there will be dialogue from classic scenes.
Obviously, the disc will include pic’s most famous song, “As Time Goes By,” but it will also feature “Dats What Noah Done,” a Wilson number that did not make it into the released movie. In addition to “Casablanca,” Steiner also scored “Gone With the Wind” and “King Kong.”
