Multiple Grammy Award-winning record producer David Foster has been tapped to receive the Neil Bogart Memorial Fund Children’s Choice Award, which will recognize the prolific producer’s philanthropic contribution to several causes.
Foster will receive the award at the org’s fundraising gala, set for November 15 at Barker Hangar. The event is typically attended by the town’s A list of music industry movers and shakers.
Proceeds from the event will be earmarked for treatment and research of leukemia, cancer and AIDS in children.
“Those of us in the music industry are very proud to have such a wonderful organization so hard at work on our behalf, and it is an honor for me to be this year’s recipient,” said Foster. “I will continue doing my very best to contribute to this loyal cause and hopefully live up to the accomplishments of past recipients.”
Foster is a 14-time Grammy Award winner and picked up the producer of the year nod in March for his work on Celine Dion’s “Falling Into You.”
‘Given so much’
“It is our privilege to honor someone who has given so much to the community,” said Joyce Bogart Trabulus, founder of the Bogart Fund.
Foster is active in several charities by donating his musical skill, time and money to such notable causes as the Andre Agassi Foundation, Cedars Sinai Research for Women’s Cancer and the Gay Men’s Health Crisis, among others. His David Foster Foundation assists families of children in need of organ transplants.
The Neil Bogart Memorial Fund, an arm of the T.J. Martell Foundation, bowed in 1984 and is named after the late Casablanca/Boardwalk Records founder/chief Neil Bogart.
