Philip Berk was re-elected president of the Hollywood Foreign Press Assn. for the 1997-’98 year.
Berk, an internationally syndicated journalist, has served in three previous terms: from 1996-’97, 1991-’92 and 1990-’91. He was chosen at the HFPA’s annual election meeting on June 3.
Meanwhile, Elmar Biebl was elected vice president and Lowell Staine and Jack Tewksbury were re-elected as executive secretary and treasurer, respectively.
The new board of directors are Jean Cummings (chairman), Ahmed Lateef, BJ Franklin, Lorenzo Soria, Hans Spurkel and Theo Kingma (alternate).
The installation luncheon will be in July, when the association will make its annual donations to non-profit orgs and film schools.
