Joint jumps for ‘Judy’ jubilee

Judy Garland would have been 75 years old Tuesday, and in observance of the anniversary of her birth, MGM cohort Ann Miller hosted the opening of Julie Sheppard’s one-woman show, “Judy Garland … a Night in the Life,” at Arbuckle’s in West Hollywood.

The show, which runs through June 21, re-creates a fictional evening in which Garland, out for a night on the town, makes an impromptu appearance at a boite, delivering a good portion of her repertoire.

“Judy was a big ham — she was the greatest, and she’s coming through this girl,” Miller exclaimed at the end of the evening, a fundraiser for the Life Institute, an AIDS research and educational org.

Also on hand to laud Sheppard’s uncanny impersonation was another MGM alum, Esther Williams, plus Linda Hopkins, Sally Kellerman and philanthropist Sybil Brand.
