NEW YORK — The Broadway revival of “Once Upon a Mattress” has become the second production to post a closing notice in the wake of the Tony Award nominations. “Mattress,” starring Sarah Jessica Parker, will end its run May 31, although a musical number from the show will be performed for the June 1 Tony telecast.
Although “Mattress” received a Tony nomination for best musical revival, that particular award is considered to be a shoo-in for the “Chicago” revival. When it closes, “Mattress,” which opened Dec. 19 at the Broadhurst Theater, will have played 187 regular performances and 33 previews. While the revival finishes its run, producers are offering a complimentary child’s ticket for each full-price ticket purchased.
The spring’s first closer was “Play On!,” which played off May 11.
