Warner Bros. has purchased a treatment for a horror thriller titled “Blood of the Gods,” about a group of teenagers on a South Seas surfing trip who have to keep their heads as they’re pursued by a hungry tribe of cannibals. Renny Harlin is attached to produce under his newly renamed company Midnight Sun Pictures.
Treatment was written by first-time feature scribe Anthony Jaswinski, who has also been retained to draft the script.
Harlin — who won’t helm “Blood” — is likely to start pic’s production in summer 1998, after he finishes direct-ing the WB undersea sci-fi pic “Deep Blue Sea.” Other projects Harlin has produced, but not directed, are “Ramblin’ Rose” and “Speechless.”
Harlin is currently producing a documentary about photographer and socialite Peter Beard titled “Beyond the Edge of the World.”
WB president of theatrical produc-tion Lorenzo di Bonaventura and senior production veepee Jeff Robinov will oversee the project.
Lawrence Mattis, of Gotham-based Circle of Confusion percentery, repped Jaswinski.
