Pruitt Taylor Vince — the thesp who played the main character in James Mangold’s indie pic “Heavy” — is set to co-star with Tim Roth in Giuseppe Tornatore’s “The Legend of the Pianist on the Ocean” for Fine Line Features.
Pic, written and helmed by Tornatore, marks the “Cinema Paradiso” helmer’s English-language debut. The story takes place in the early 20th century and tells of a piano prodigy (Roth) who is born and grows up on board an ocean liner. Vince’s character is a friend of the pianist and narrates the pic, which follows the boy into manhood and through two world wars.
Francesco Tornatore, the director’s brother, will produce the project for Sciarlo, the production company run by the two siblings. Laura Fattori is exec producer.
“Legend” is slated to go before the cameras in September in Rome.
Vince recently earned an outstanding guest actor Emmy nomination for his role in the ABC series “Murder One.” His other credits include “Nobody’s Fool,” “Beautiful Girls,” “Natural Born Killers” and “Mississippi Burning.”
Vince was repped on the deal by Ken Kaplan and Mark Schumacher of the Gersh Agency. He is managed by Joanna Burstein.
