Turman taps Mackenzie

Doc filmmaker to fill director of development slot

Documentary filmmaker Fiona Mackenzie has been tapped for the director of development slot at the Turman-Morrissey Co. The indie production shingle’s based on the Sony Pictures Entertainment lot in Culver City with a first-look deal with Columbia Pictures.

Mackenzie’s docu on surfing, “Wave Warriors,” is in distribution (from Sygma Releasing). She was also a broadcast journalist based in Paris for several years, working for the BBC, CNN, Fox News, MTV and VH1.

She worked as assistant to director John Shea on the indie production “Brass Ring,” starring Donnie Wahlberg. Holder of a master’s degree from the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown U. in Washington, D.C., Mackenzie also served as an intern in the White House.
