Trimark Pictures has picked up worldwide rights to the Charles Dance and Sheryl Lee starrer “The Blood Oranges” from Ark Pictures, it was confirmed Friday.
“It’s our conviction that the film has strong international appeal because of the subject matter,” said Guy Stodel, Trimark’s manager of international acquisitions.
Adapted from the John Hawkes novel, the pic explores the sexual dynamics between two married couples in a coastal village of an unnamed Latin American country. “Blood Oranges,” lensed in Mexico, is a project of husband-and-wife team Philip and Belinda Haas (“Angels & Insects”).
“This is part of a big push to get involved in the international distribution field,” said Sergio Aguero, Trimark’s exec VP.
Ark Pictures, a partnership between Kluge Investments, Gotham Entertainment and Kardana Films, is a company investors say is designed for director-driven projects.
