Charlize Theron, the blond bombshell thesp who starred in “2 days in the Valley,” is in final talks for the psycho-horror pic “Astronaut’s Wife” for New Line Cinema, the studio said Thursday.

Theron will play a twentysomething femme who becomes involved in a mystery after her astronaut husband is in an accident and retires from the space program.

Johnny Depp has been mentioned for the astronaut role, but no deal has been struck.

Screenwriter Rand Ravitch will make his feature helming debut with the pic, which is set to lense this fall. Andrew Lazar is producing through his Mad Chance Prods.

Theron, born and raised in South Africa, was a former ballet dancer for Gotham-based Joffrey Ballet. Her other feature credits include “Trial and Error” for New Line and “That Thing You Do” for 20th Century Fox.

She was repped by UTA agent J.J. Harris in the deal.
