TCM to show rediscovered Capra silent

“The Matinee Idol,” a 1928 silent film from legendary director Frank Capra that was recently discovered in a vault in France after being out of public view for more than 50 years, will be unveiled in a world TV premiere June 8 on the Turner Classic Movies (TCM) cablenet.

Fully restored movie stars Bessie Love as a comedy troupe leader who falls in love with Don Wilson as a Broadway star. It marks the first time that a live-action feature has been restored in its entirety using digital processing, according to Turner.

TCM is currently available in roughly 15 million cable and satellite homes.
