‘Superman’ restarted

Meanwhile, after all the hubbub and legal wrangling about start dates and availability over Nicolas Cage between Par’s “Snake Eyes” and Warner Bros.’ “Superman,” the start date for the Tim Burton-directed Man of Steel project now has officially been moved to January. Instead of summer 1998, look for “Superman” to bow Christmas 1998. Sources said Burton is working on the script and Cage could use the breathing room between projects. Only a month ago, the snafu concerning dates had tensions so high that Paramount Pictures was on the verge of suing Creative Artists Agency. Asked about it, one insider said, “It’s a crazy business, isn’t it? That’s Hollywood.”
