Scott Silver has signed on to direct the MGM pic “The Mod Squad,” a feature version of the hit television program about dropouts-turned-undercover cops that ran on ABC from 1968 to 1973.
Silver, who most recently helmed “johns,” an indie production about male prostitutes in Hollywood, took over “Mod Squad” from director Stacy Title, who left the project in July due to creative differences with producers.
Sources close to the project said Silver is rewriting the script. No start date has been set for shooting, but sources said lensing could begin in late fall or winter for release in mid-1998.
Ben Myron, Alan Riche and Tony Ludwig are producing the film. Aaron Spelling, whose TV production company produced the original television program, is exec producing.
No talent is attached.
