Scribe Becker inks ‘Link’ double deal

Getting double mileage out of his alien, sci-fi pitch, screenwriter Walt Becker has set up “Link” at Live Entertainment for Wesley Snipes’ Amen Ra Films and Parkwood Pictures to produce.

The 27-year-old scribe also has inked a high-six-figure deal with William Morrow to pen a novel based on the story.

“Link” tells the tale of the discovery of the missing link in Africa. However, the lost connection in the human evolutionary chain turns out to be an alien.

After setting up the film project, Becker created a 100-page proposal and sent it around to publishers via New York lit agent David Vigliano.

William Morrow made a preemptive offer of $550,000 to secure the publishing rights and take the book off the market.

Live Entertainment senior VP Yalda Tehranian is credited with bringing the project into the company.

Becker previously optioned his screenplay “Blue Ground” to 20th Century Fox for Davis Entertainment and Greg Davis’ Parkwood Pictures to produce.

Becker is repped by the Endeavor Agency.
