Scotts’ post house gets cash boost

LONDON — Millfilm, the f/x post-production facility fronted by Ridley and Tony Scott, has raised $10.6 million to finance its operations.

The majority of the funding comes from Candover, the investment company that also backed the Scotts’ acquisition of the Shepperton film studios.

Millfilm, a sister company to the established TV and ad post-production house the Mill, was formed in April of last year and is intended to be a comprehensive f/x facility for film and TV, including a motion control studio.

The company has a 9,000-square-foot building in London’s Soho media district and plans to employ 40 staff by the end of the year. Some of its talent has been poached from California-based f/x companies.

Scott Free Prods., the feature film production company run by the brothers, is reworking several financial deals. It recently renegotiated deals with financiers Largo Entertainment and First Independent (Daily Variety, June 27).
