Jorge Saralegui, exec vice president of production at Fox, has jumped from buyer to seller — and to a new studio — with plans to hang out an independent producer shingle at Warner Bros. starting Jan. 1.
“Jorge has been an outstanding executive at Fox, someone whose eye for material is really distinctive,” said Bill Gerber, president of worldwide theatrical production at Warners. “He’s got a solid list of accomplishments, movies with broad appeal as well as a unique edge.”
During his tenure at Fox, Saralegui brought in the 1994 hit “Speed,” and was an early champion of that studio’s successful “Independence Day.” Other projects he led through production were “Broken Arrow,” “Die Hard With a Vengeance,” “Alien Resurrection” and the upcoming “Great Expectations.”
Saralegui, a published novelist, joined Fox as a reader in 1989, and rose through the ranks to creative executive and later exec VP of production.
