‘Ryan’ adds Martini to mix

Max Martini has been cast in DreamWorks/Paramount’s “Saving Private Ryan,” joining a cast that includes Tom Hanks, Tom Sizemore, Edward Burns, Matt Damon and Barry Pepper.

Martini, who also appears in Warner Bros.’ “Contact,” will begin production on the project in the U.K. in August.

Martini will play the only remaining officer in a unit of paratroopers — which includes Private Ryan. Martini’s character leads his men through an exhausting, weeklong assignment guarding a key bridge against the Germans.

Martini also stars in “Pictures of Baby Jane Doe” and “Paper Angels,” two upcoming indie features. He also has guest-starred on such TV shows as “High Incident,” “Nash Bridges” and “Walker, Texas Ranger.”

Martini’s deal was brokered by manager Rachel Bati and agents Stephanie Johnson and Steven Levy at Innovative Artists.
