Polygram gets its wings

Responding to a perceived need to unify its sprawling film holdings, Polygram unveiled Friday a new logo for its Polygram Filmed Entertainment division that will be used for all PFE units, save Gramercy Pictures.

The logo, a stylized representation of the famed ancient Greek statue the Winged Victory of Samothrace, will make its first bow in a 20-second-long, animated version in the Sept. 12 Polygram Films release of “The Game,” starring Michael Douglas and Sean Penn, and all subsequent PFE releases.

Gramercy releases will continue using the established “performer” logo the company has brandished since its inception.

All other PFE enterprises will use the new Victory logo. These currently include Interscope Communications, Island Pictures, Propaganda Films, Working Title Films, several European production and distribution companies and another pair of local producers in Hong Kong.
