Joe Wizan and Don Schneider’s Paramount-based Phase One Prods. has optioned “Jaws” scribe Carl Gottlieb’s thriller pitch “Wolf and Blood” in a deal that could net Gottlieb a mid-six-figure pricetag.
Gottlieb made the deal after writing the first act of the script and pitching the rest.
Project is about a boy/girl LAPD team hunting down a serial killer.
Wizan and Schneider, who will produce, bought the project with its own discretionary fund independent of its Paramount deal.
Kristine Schwarz, VP of creative affairs for Phase One, brought the project into the company and will oversee it.
Gottlieb, a former VP of the Writers Guild of America, scripted such features as “The Jerk,” “Doctor Detroit” and “Caveman.” He also wrote the short “The Absent-Minded Waiter” starring Steve Martin.
For television, he has written for “The Odd Couple” and “The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour.”
Marcie Wright of The Wright Concept brokered the deal for Gottlieb with attorney Steve Berkow.
