Joe Wizan and Don Schneider’s Phase One Prods. has optioned Peter Mayle’s bestselling comic novel “Chasing Cezanne.”
Wizan and Schneider will produce the project, which they acquired using the company’s discretionary fund.
Set in the international art world in Paris, New York and the French Riviera, the novel is about a photographer who stumbles on a major art scam after he sees a plumber loading a Cezanne painting into his truck.
No talent or helmers are attached.
In recent months, Phase One has optioned a number of projects, including “Wolf and Blood” by Carl Gottlieb and an untitled pitch by Bruce C. McKenna.
CAA’s Bob Bookman brokered the deal for Mayle.
Mayle’s other books include “Hotel Pastis,” “A Year in Provence” and “Anything Considered.”
