Peninsula lands ‘Lover Girl’

Newly formed Los Angeles-based indie production company Peninsula Films has just begun lensing its first pic, “Lover Girl,” starring Kristy Swanson and Sandra Bernhard. Budgeted at about $1 million, the film is being produced by Larry Rattner and Mark Pierce and exec produced by Allison Anders.

“Lover Girl,” directed by Lisa Addario and Joe Syracuse and co-produced by Dream Entertainment, is the story of a teenage girl who is befriended by the women of a massage parlor after her mother abandons her.

Peninsula’s projects in development include “Love Supreme,” written and directed by Jeffrey Reiner, and “The Metal Box,” penned and directed by Kurt Voss. Peninsula co-founders Rattner and Pierce are former execs of New World Pictures, where Rattner was director of finance and Pierce was director of post-production and marketing.
