Elizabeth Pena has inked opposite Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker for New Line Cinema’s “Rush Hour,” sources said Friday.
Pena will play an LAPD explosives expert in the thriller about the daughter of a Chinese ambassador who is kidnapped by her father’s former chauffeur.
Pic started production last week in L.A. and Pena starts shooting this week. It will also shoot in Hong Kong.
Brett Ratner is helming from a script by Ross LaManna and Teri Sarafian.
Pic is produced by Roger Birnbaum, Arthur Sarkissian and Jonathan Glickman.
Pena just finished “Strange Land” for Shooting Gallery. Her other credits include “Lone Star,” which garnered her an IFP award for best actress, “Jacob’s Ladder” and “Down and Out in Beverly Hills.”
Pena’s deal was brokered by Scott Melrose and Joel Rudnick of Paradigm. She is also repped by Brian Medavoy and Mitch Geller of More/Medavoy Management.
