Thesp Miguel A. Nunez Jr., star of the UPN series “Sparks,” has signed to play the seminal rock singer/performer Little Richard in Warner Bros. “Why Do Fools Fall in Love?,” a biopic about the life of ’50s pop star Frankie Lymon.
Pic, which started production last week, is helmed by Gregory Nava (“Selena,” “Mi Familia”) and stars Larenz Tate, Halle Berry, Vivica A. Fox and Lela Rochon. Screenplay is by Tina Andrews. Steve Nemeth of Rhino Films will produce with Paul Hall.
Nunez will also be seen in Universal’s “For Richer or Poorer,” set for a Dec. 12 bow, in which he stars as an IRS investigator assigned to nab Tim Allen and Kirstie Alley for tax fraud. He has appeared in numerous features and television programs.
The actor is represented by Glenn Robbins at Abrams Artists Agency.
