AMSTERDAM — Dutch filmers Volkert Struycken and Errol Nayci have ankled Holland’s largest production outfit First Floor Features to start up new Dutch film production and sales house Get Reel Prods.
Based in Amsterdam, Get Reel aims to produce feature films in English as well as Dutch. “We are also actively looking for international co-production partners,” Struycken told Daily Variety.
Struycken worked for Andres Gomez’s Iberoamericana Films in Madrid and Los Angeles for three years before being lured over to First Floor as managing director. His credits while with Gomez include work on such films as Fernando Trueba’s “Two Much,” starring Antonio Banderas and Melanie Griffith, and Alex de La Iglesia’s “Perdito Durango,” starring Rosie Perez.
Get Reel is currently in pre-production with “Cash Cows,” a black comedy directed by Dominique Deruddere. Sales arm will handle Get Reel product as well as international acquisitions and has already picked up rights for Deruddere’s “Hombres Complicados.”
“International sales would be the company’s No. 1 priority,” said Nayci, who worked at First Floor as project development manager on, among other films, Cannes Intl. Critics Week entry “Character,” directed by Mike van Diem.
