New Line Cinema, which scored with Mike Myers playing dual roles in “Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery,” is seeing double again.
The Time-Warner-based indie Thursday bought a spec script by Marcus Gautesen, “Just Like Me,” in which Myers would star as both a man and a woman in love.
The spec, which sources said sold for $400,000 against $650,000, is about a guy who wishes for, and then meets, a girl just like himself. Myers, through the aid of digital re-enhancement, would fill both roles. Sources said New Line would use the same technology that gave Eddie Murphy his ample girth in “Nutty Professor.”
Three Arts Entertainment reps Erwin Stoff, Scott Solomon and Wendy Wanderman, who manage Myers, are producers on “Just Like Me.”
No line producer or director is attached.
Though Myers’ deal has not been structured, New Line is operating with the understanding that Myers is attached. Three Arts, however, said it is only developing the project, possibly for Myers to star.
New Line senior VP of production Claire Rudnick Polstein, VP of production Mary Parent and creative exec Donna Langley are the execs on the pic. Rudnick Polstein also oversaw “Austin Powers, ” which has grossed more than $40 million domestically.
Agent Jon Klane repped Gautesen and the Three Arts team in the deal.
