WASHINGTON — The Motion Picture Assn. of America has upped Simon Barsky to senior VP and general counsel of the MPAA and its international arm, the Motion Picture Assn.
Thursday’s promotion puts Barsky in charge of all of MPAA and MPA legal affairs worldwide.
Barsky had been senior veep and deputy counsel for the MPAA, where he directed the studio trade group’s state and domestic tax operations. He joined the MPAA in 1978.
“I am so very pleased to formally introduce him as our general counsel,” MPAA prexy Jack Valenti said. “(Our) member companies are fortunate to have his keen intellect and demonstrated ability in this critical post.”
