NEW YORK — New Line Cinema’s senior vice president of marketing, Christina Kounelias, has been named senior VP of publicity and public relations at Fox Broadcasting Co.
Kounelias, who starts in late June, replaces Richard Licata, who recently ankled Fox. She reports to George Greenberg, executive veepee of marketing, and will be responsible for all aspects of publicity and corporate public relations at the network. She’ll also oversee media campaigns for Fox Kids Network and Fox TV Stations.
Kounelias is a longtime film marketing and publicity executive, and the Fox job is her first in the TV business. “TV is really hot now,” Kounelias said, “and Fox is amazing in terms of branding and their demos.”
Kounelias first joined New Line in 1991, and, since 1995, she has overseen the company’s domestic publicity and promotions, while also working on international PR campaigns. The features she has helped launch include “Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery,” “The Mask,” “Dumb and Dumber” and “Seven.”
Prior to new Line, Kounelias was VP of publicity for Miramax Films, where she developed launch strategies for film such as “sex, lies and videotape,” “My Left Foot” and “The Grifters.”
