Diane Keaton, alternating between directing and acting assignments, has inked as a thesp for “The Other Sister” under Garry Marshall’s helm for Touchstone Pictures, the studio confirmed Monday.
Keaton will play the mother of a semi-retarded teenager who moves into an apartment of her own and falls in love with a semi-retarded classmate.
Marshall is producing. He also scripted with Bob Brunner.
Another female co-star has yet to be cast.
Pic has no start date, but Touchstone hopes to get it into production in the coming months.
Keaton, who has her own production company with Disney and Touchstone, made her feature film helming debut with 1995’s “Unstrung Heroes”; she has several projects in development.
As an actress, she most recently starred in “Marvin’s Room,” for which she received an Oscar nom, B.O. hit “The First Wives Club” and “Father of the Bride 2.”
Her deal was brokered by a William Morris Agency team lead by John Burnham and Jeff Field.
