Could star opposite Robbins in Lakeshore pic

Oscar-nominated actress Joan Cusack is in talks to star opposite Tim Robbins in Lakeshore’s “Arlington Road,” sources said Wednesday.

Cusack would play Robbins’ wife in the thriller about a college professor who must put his academic knowledge of domestic terrorism into practice in order to track down a mass murderer.

Mark Pellington, who made his feature debut on Lakeshore’s “Going All the Way,” will direct. Pellington got his start as a commercial and musicvid helmer, whose clients included Pearl Jam, INXS, Nike and Pepsi. He also directed the PBS docu “The United States of Poetry.”

The film is based on a screenplay by Ehren Kruger, who received an Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences Nicholl Fellowship in 1996 for the script.

“Wilde” producers Peter and Marc Samuelson produce along with Tom Gorai.

Lakeshore execs were not available for comment.

Cusack, who received a supporting actress nom for 1988’s “Working Girl,” most recently starred opposite Kevin Kline in Paramount’s “In & Out.” Other recent credits include “Grosse Pointe Blank,” “Two Much,” “Mr. Wrong” and “Nine Months.”

She was repped in the deal by ICM’s Tracey Jacobs.
