Thomas Jane, now onscreen as the coked-out stripper in “Boogie Nights,” has been cast in Phoenix Pictures’ “The Thin Red Line.”

He portrays a wounded soldier left behind by his platoon in the Terrence Malick-helmed WWII epic. Jane joins George Clooney, John Cusack, Woody Harrelson, Nick Nolte, Sean Penn, Bill Pullman and John Travolta in the cast.

Jane is now shooting Cineville’s “The Velocity of Gary,” opposite Salma Hayek and Vincent D’Onofrio. He plays the title role in the film, which is directed by Dan Ireland (“The Whole Wide World”).

He recently wrapped Gramercy Pictures’ “Thursday” opposite Aaron Eckhart, James LeGros and Paulina Porizkova. Jane’s previous credits include the role of Neal Cassady in the indie feature “The Last Time I Committed Suicide.”
