Iwerks, producers of large-format movies and ridefilms, and Oregon-based Will Vinton Studios — which made stars of the claymation California Raisins and computer-generated M&Ms — have pacted to jointly produce and market custom-made bigscreen films and ride attractions.
Under the agreement, the companies will produce ridefilms, 3-D movies and large-format pics for distribution to Iwerks theaters around the world.
Vinton Studios, which has a special in production set to air on ABC in December, has created an attraction film development group, to be managed by Larry Hitchcock, former veepee at Walt Disney Imagineering, and a designer/producer of attractions for Universal Studios and Lucas Arts.
Vinton Studios has won an Academy Award, six Emmys and numerous Clios.
Iwerks, based in Burbank, is one of the leading producers of giant screen films and ride simulation attractions.
