There are going to be two men in iron masks this fall. Indie company the Fastest Cheapest Best Film Corp. is producing William Richert’s adaptation of “The Man in the Iron Mask,” the Alexandre Dumas novel about the adventures of the famous Musketeers of 17th-century France.
UA is also producing a big-budget version of the same swordplay story in the time of Louis XIV, starring Jeremy Irons and Leonardo DiCaprio.
The Richert version is operating on a $300,000 budget. Shooting has begun at the historic Mission Inn in Riverside. Cast includes Timothy Bottoms, Dana Barron, Edward Albert, Dennis Hayden and James Gammon. Pic will debut at the Sonoma Valley Film Festival in October.
