Griffiths limns ‘Amy’


“Muriel’s Wedding” thesp Rachel Griffiths has inked a deal to star in “Amy,” a film about a little girl whose only form of communication is singing after she is rendered deaf and mute when witnessing her rock star father’s fatal accident.

To be produced by Cascade Films and Beyond Films, pic will shoot in March and be directed by Nadia Tass from a script by David Parker, who’ll also serve as cinematographer. Beyond will launch the picture internationally later this year, while Oz distrib Village Roadshow plans a 1998 release.
