NEW YORK — Fox paid mid-against-high six figures for “The Point,” a pitch best described as “The Rock” set at the West Point military academy, sources said.
The project was pitched by producer Hunt Lowry (“Last of the Mohicans” and “A Time To Kill”) and screenwriter Scott Smith. Smith is currently writing “Jettisoned” at Disney, where Lowry also has a deal. That studio passed on the pitch, but Fox’s Jorge Saralegui pounced. The deal was made by William Morris’ Rob Carlson.
