Filmwave bows ‘Shepherd’

C. Thomas Howell, Roddy Piper and David Carradine began shooting Monday in Toronto on Filmwave Picture’s sci-fi actioner “Shepherd.”

The film is directed by Peter Hayman (“Notes From the Underground”) and produced by Producers Network Associates’ Daniel D’or and G. Philip Jackson.

Roger Corman and David A. Steinberg serve as exec producers.

Penned by Nelu Ghiran, the pic is set in a bleak future where societal and environmental breakdown has led to widespread violence.

Rival televised religious cults, battling for the hearts and minds of the masses, hire assassins known as “shepherds” to reinforce the faith of their flocks.

Filmwave is the recently formed film and TV production/foreign sales company topped by Christopher J. Fries and Adam Fast in partnership with entertainment marketing firm New Wave Entertainment.
