Leonardo DiCaprio is making room for “The Crowded Room.” The actor, who last starred in “Romeo & Juliet,” has been in negotiations for the coveted role that had drawn the interest of several actors over the years, including Matthew McConaughey, Johnny Depp, Brad Pitt, Sean Penn and John Cusack.
The project, based on the life story of Billy Milligan from Daniel Keyes book “The Minds of Billy Milligan,” is about a man with 24 different personalities. The project has drawn interest from a number of top filmmakers over the years, such as James Cameron, David Fincher and Gus Vant Sant.
DiCaprio would be directed in the New Regency project by Nick Cassavettes, who has a two-picture deal with the production company. Bruce Berman is also producing. DiCaprio is repped by Rick Yorn at Addis/Wechsler; Cassavettes by Scott Lambert at WMA.
