NEW YORK — Willem Dafoe has joined the cast of Redeemable Features’ “Lulu on the Bridge,” the directorial debut of novelist/screenwriter Paul Auster.
The film, which has been lensing in Gotham since Oct. 20, stars Harvey Keitel, Mira Sorvino, Vanessa Redgrave and Mandy Patinkin.
A romantic mystery set in the heart of New York’s creative community, “Lulu” tells the story of a well-known jazz saxophonist (Keitel) whose life is changed after he is hit by a stray bullet. Dafoe will play Dr. Van Horn, who offers the sax player a chance a redemption.
Auster’s credits include writing the script for Wayne Wang’s “Smoke” and co-directing its sequel, “Blue in the Face,” with Wang.
“Lulu” is being financed by London’s Capitol Films in association with Pyramide of Paris.
